At our core, we are veterans supporting veterans. Whether you served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, The Gulf wars, Afghanistan, or any era in between, Post 15 provides a welcoming home where comrades can connect, share stories, and find support. We advocate for strong veterans' benefits, quality healthcare, and policies that respect and uphold the promises made to those who defended our nation.
Our Commitment
Service to Veterans and Active Duty Personnel:
We are dedicated to meeting the unique needs of those who wear or have worn the uniform. This includes providing camaraderie and a sense of belonging through regular meetings and social gatherings; assisting with access to benefits, claims navigation, and VA resources; offering peer-to-peer support for mental health challenges and transition difficulties; connecting individuals and families to essential services such as VA claims navigation and crisis resources like the Veterans Crisis Line.
Community Engagment:
We are deeply woven into the fabric of Sumter and surrounding areas through longstanding traditions and active involvement. For over a century we have hosted the annual Sumter American Legion Fair and the P15's Baseball team owned Post 15 is the oldest American Legion Baseball team in the state while being the second oldest in the nation! In addition, Post 15 annually sponsors young men through Palmetto Boys State, Troop 339, Pack 339, the American Legion Oratorical Contest and continue to partner on a wide range of initiatives that promote youth development, education and community spirit,
